Omah Lay – WAIST
Dance floor anatomy gets its own title as Omah Lay puts WAIST on the CLARITY OF MIND (EXTENDED) album.
Any Nigerian who has been to a party knows why that word matters. It is the part of the body that decides the dance, and our music has always celebrated it, from the instructions shouted by artists to the aunties who wind it with unmatched precision. A single word can carry an entire dance move and a whole mood.
It also suggests attraction. Eyes follow movement, and a title like this points toward flirting, closeness and the playful tension on a crowded floor. Whether the record is teasing, appreciative or instructional is something I will not claim to know, and I will not describe the beat or vocals, since I cannot vouch for those details.
It suits the part of the night when the outfit is sorted, the crowd is warm and nobody is thinking about tomorrow.
