Noble G – PEACE BE STILL

Anybody raised in a Nigerian church knows where the phrase comes from. It recalls the story of a boat tossed by wind and waves, with frightened people on board and a calm voice that simply told the sea to settle. Pastors preach it when members are afraid, and mothers pray it over homes when the news is bad. The picture is strong because the storm is always something we recognise, whether it is a sickness, a debt, a quarrel or a long season of confusion.

Outside the sanctuary, the same words work as a quiet instruction to oneself. People say them when anxiety is climbing at night, when the phone will not stop buzzing or when the mind refuses to rest. A title like this is therefore both a declaration of faith and a gentle request for calm. I will not describe the arrangement, the vocals or the production here, since I cannot vouch for those details and your own ears are the fair judge. What the name of PEACE BE STILL does tell you is the mood, steady and prayerful.

It suits the sleepless hour before dawn, the waiting room outside a hard result and anyone who needs the noise inside their head to finally go quiet.
