Omah Lay – I AM
Two words, a whole identity: Omah Lay states it plainly on I AM, from the CLARITY OF MIND (EXTENDED) album.
Those words have always been strong in music and scripture. They are a declaration, a way of claiming a place before anyone can argue. Whatever follows is usually less important than the confidence of the opening. A person who says them is deciding who they are, whether in an interview, at a wedding or in front of a mirror.
Left unfinished, the title leaves a blank for each listener to fill. Some will think of faith, some of ambition, and some of simple self acceptance after a difficult stretch. For an album called CLARITY OF MIND, it makes sense as a statement of grounding. I will not describe the beat or the vocals, since I cannot vouch for those details.
It suits the morning you decide you are done apologising for who you are.
