Omah Lay – AMEN
A word that closes every prayer lands as a title when Omah Lay offers AMEN, on the album CLARITY OF MIND (EXTENDED).
Nigerians say it more than almost any other word. It follows grace before meals, family blessings, sermons and long WhatsApp messages from an aunty with good wishes. It means so be it, an agreement, a seal. Saying it is also a small act of hope, because it asks that the prayer be answered.
As a title, it can be reverence, relief or even a sigh at the end of a hard chapter. Placed near other spiritual titles on the project, it also hints at a theme of faith running through the album. I will not describe the beat or the vocals here, since I cannot vouch for those details.
It suits the end of a long day, when you exhale, close your eyes and trust that things will work out.
