Mr Thela – uMtshato Lento Ft. Toolz Umazelaphi & Nkazie
A wedding takes the spotlight as Mr Thela brings in Toolz Umazelaphi and Nkazie on uMtshato Lento, from the INTSIKA (KING OF GQOM) album.
The title points to a marriage ceremony, and any Nigerian knows how big that subject is. Weddings are not small events here. They involve families, colour-coordinated outfits, long speeches, endless food and a dance floor that refuses to empty. Putting a wedding in a gqom record gives it a celebration angle that people will connect with immediately.
It is also a universal subject. Everybody has attended one, been invited to one or been asked for money towards one. Toolz Umazelaphi and Nkazie are the credited guests, so there are three voices to share the occasion. I will not describe the beat or the vocals, since I cannot vouch for those details and your own ears are the fair judge.
Play it at a gathering when the food has been served, the cake has been cut and the couple is finally allowed to relax.
