Mr Thela – Khanya Ft. Borah RSA, Rhass, Lethu and Maleta
Light is the theme as Mr Thela gathers Borah RSA, Rhass, Lethu and Maleta on Khanya, from the INTSIKA (KING OF GQOM) album.
The word is commonly understood as shine or brightness, and it carries a lot of positive weight. In everyday life, light is the end of a dark patch, the relief when electricity returns after hours of waiting, the glow of someone who has finally found their feet. Nigerians understand that last picture better than most, since power cuts make the return of light feel like a small celebration.
Five credited names on one record make it the biggest crowd on this part of the project. Borah RSA, Rhass, Lethu and Maleta each bring their own personality, so the interesting question is how the voices share the space. I will not describe the beat or the delivery, since I cannot vouch for those details.
It fits a bright morning, a new opportunity or any moment when things quietly start to turn in your favour.
