Mr Thela – Bawelile Ft. Mel Bacela

I would not claim a full translation, but the word has a ring that suggests people approaching or welcoming someone, almost like a crowd arriving to greet a hero. That image fits a big night. Anybody who has attended an owambe knows the moment when the celebrant arrives and the whole hall shifts, the band changes its tune and everyone rises to their feet.

Mel Bacela is a returning name on this album, which gives the record a link to the larger project. When a guest appears more than once, it usually points to a relationship that works, and listeners like to follow those threads. I will not describe the production or the vocals, because I cannot vouch for those details and your own ears are the fair judge.

Play it when somebody important walks in and the room needs a soundtrack to match.
