Dlala Thukzin – Kuwe Ft. JNR SA & Sino Msolo
Sometimes a short word does all the talking, and Kuwe from Dlala Thukzin, featuring JNR SA and Sino Msolo, sits on the Ember album.
The title is in Zulu and it points toward a person, a for you kind of direction. That makes it personal straight away. A dance record built around addressing one individual feels different from a party anthem for everybody. It suggests a message sent to someone specific, whether a lover, a friend or someone who has been on the speaker’s mind all week.
Nigerians will recognise the idea from our own love songs, where a title that sounds like a dedication makes the listener imagine their own person. It is the kind of record you screenshot the name of and send to somebody with no extra explanation. JNR SA and Sino Msolo are the credited guests, and Sino Msolo appears on another song from the project too. I will not describe the production or the vocals, because I cannot vouch for them.
Play it when there is someone in your mind and you do not yet know how to say it.
