Dlala Thukzin – Ithuba Ft. Tribe of Afro, Sykes & Mpho.wav
Opportunity is the subject on Ithuba, where Dlala Thukzin joins Tribe of Afro, Sykes and Mpho.wav on the Ember album.
The word is Zulu for chance, and it carries a lot of weight in a country and a continent where chances can feel rare. Every Nigerian knows the sentence give me one chance and I will show you. It is what the graduate says in the interview room, what the artist whispers before the first show and what the trader tells the bank officer. A single word holds hope, pressure and a little bit of desperation.
Four names on one record also make it a crowded stage. Tribe of Afro, Sykes and Mpho.wav appear alongside the lead, so there is a lot of personality to share. In a collaboration this size, each guest effectively gets a shot of their own, which fits the theme in a quiet way. I will not describe the beat or the voices, since I cannot vouch for those details.
It belongs to anyone waiting for a door to open, and to the days when you finally walk through one.
