Dlala Thukzin – Imizwa Ft. Sino Msolo, Dj Arabic & Funky Qla
Feelings, in the plural, are the whole topic of Imizwa, which Dlala Thukzin shares with Sino Msolo, Dj Arabic and Funky Qla on Ember.
The title is Zulu, and it points to emotions and sensations, the things you feel before you find words for them. That is a good subject for a producer whose genre is built on atmosphere. Dance music often says more with a mood than with a sentence, and a title like this admits that openly.
Four artists on one record make it an interesting gathering. Sino Msolo has another credit on the album, while Dj Arabic and Funky Qla bring two more names to the table. In Nigeria we would call it a full squad, and the joy of such records is hearing how each personality fits next to the others. I will not describe the beat or the arrangement, since I cannot vouch for those details.
Anyone who has felt something they could not explain, at a party or alone in a car, will understand why a single word like this one can carry a whole record.
