Omah Lay – Holy Ghost

Anybody raised in Nigerian Christianity knows how loud that phrase can get. It is the shout from the pulpit, the fire in a prayer meeting, the sense that something bigger has entered the room. It carries comfort and power at the same time, and people either feel moved by it or amused by how dramatic it can be.

Using it in a secular record opens many readings. It could be a testimony, a joke about excess or a way of describing something so intense it feels spiritual. Nigerians have always mixed the sacred and the street, and the title sits comfortably in that tradition. I will not describe the sound or the arrangement, since I cannot vouch for those details and your own ears are the fair judge.

It belongs to the person who grew up in church and still hears the choir in the back of their mind.
