DrummeRTee924 – Soul Structure Ft. Tailer De Musiq

Soul is a word we use for feeling, for the part of a song you cannot measure. Structure is the opposite, the plan, the frame, the thing that holds everything up. Putting them together is a neat idea, because the best records need both. A song with feeling but no shape drifts away, and a song with shape but no feeling is forgettable. The title quietly argues that the two belong together.

That is what I find most interesting about it. It reads like a mission statement for anyone who makes music seriously. Soul Structure is part of the album The Upcomings, a title that suggests a project built around people on their way up, and Tailer De Musiq joining DrummeRTee924 gives it a duo feel that suits the name.

A pairing of two names often means two ways of thinking, one person bringing the plan and the other bringing the mood. I will not guess who did what, but the title leaves that picture easy to imagine.

It is a record that fits a quiet evening, maybe after a long day, when you want something with a bit of thought behind it and you are not in a hurry to be anywhere.
