UZONDI – LWALUNGEKE

The ending of the word carries the sense of something that cannot or will not happen. Even without a full translation, you can tell it speaks about limits, about a thing that refused to be, or a situation that was never going to turn out another way. That makes the title heavier than it looks.

Most people have lived this somewhere in their lives. The job you were sure about that went to somebody else. The relationship everybody told you would not work, and the one you kept hoping would. The plan that looked perfect on paper until real life showed up. Acceptance comes slowly in those moments, and a lot of people never put it into words.

What makes a title like this stick is that it does not explain itself. You are left to decide what the thing was that could not happen. For one listener it will be love, for another money, for another a person who left too early. A single word can hold all of that without any help.

That kind of open space is what makes a record personal. By the time it ends, LWALUNGEKE belongs to whoever is playing it, and the story they bring to it will probably be their own.
