Fredo Bang – Gates Flow 2 (She Don’t Wanna)

Start with the bracket. She Don’t Wanna describes a very ordinary situation, the one where you like somebody and she does not feel the same way, or the moment she simply is not in the mood to go along with your plan. Every guy has been on that side of a conversation at least once, and every guy pretends he has not.

The first half of the name is about flow, which in rap means how a person rides a beat and shapes the words. Putting the word flow into the title tells you the artist wants the delivery to be part of the point. Gates Flow 2 (She Don’t Wanna) therefore feels like a record where how he says things matters as much as what he says.

The slang spelling gives it a casual, street corner feel, like a story being told to friends. I like that the title mixes a boast about style with a small admission of rejection. That mix is honest. People brag and complain in the same breath, and anybody who has heard a group of friends dissect a love situation knows that is exactly how it goes.
