Fredo Bang – BloodShot

Think about what causes eyes to look that way. Not enough sleep, too many late nights, crying that nobody saw, or smoke in a room that stayed open too long. Each of those is a different life situation, and they all produce the same look the next morning. That is what I find interesting about the title. It is a physical sign that hides several possible stories.

The album name helps here. When a project is called Laugh Now Cry Later, a title that suggests tired, worn out eyes feels like the second half of the sentence. BloodShot reads like the morning after the party, the point where the fun has stopped and the bill arrives. Nigerians know it as the face you carry to work after a long weekend.

I would not claim more about the record without sitting with the full audio, but the idea alone is relatable. Many people walk around looking fine from far away while up close the eyes give them away. A record built around that detail has a good chance of sounding honest, and it will probably speak most to anybody who has been awake too long worrying about something.
