Blxckie – vul’amehlo (open ur eyes)

The title uses the phrase “open your eyes,” which can suggest awareness, understanding, or recognising something that may have been overlooked. It is an expression that fits many everyday situations, from learning to trust your own judgement to seeing a relationship or personal challenge more clearly. That gives the track an intriguing title for listeners who enjoy finding meaning in the words artists choose for their music.

Blxckie has built his career within South Africa’s hip-hop scene, and this release forms part of a project that includes both solo tracks and collaborations with artists from different backgrounds. The album features A-Reece, Bas, K1llbrady, L.A.X, KindlyNxsh, and Usimamane, bringing several names together across its tracklist.

Listed as the eleventh track on YENA, vul’amehlo (open ur eyes) follows “lonely,” featuring Nigerian singer L.A.X, and comes before “let em have it,” featuring KindlyNxsh. Its position gives listeners another solo entry to discover as they move through the album and explore the different titles and collaborations included in the project.
