Anderson.Paak – Helpless Ft. Cordae
It takes a certain honesty to name a record after a feeling most people hide. Helpless is the title of this one from Anderson.Paak, with Cordae also on it.
Most of us pretend we always have it under control. We say we are fine, we post the good photos and we keep going. But every person has faced a situation where nothing they did could change the outcome, a sick relative, a lost job, a love that was slipping away. That is what helpless feels like, and it is rarely spoken about openly.
For that reason, the title feels brave. It is a single word that admits weakness without dressing it up. It also gives listeners permission to say they have felt the same, which is often the first step towards feeling better.
The record is on Heavy Is The Crown, with Cordae joining Anderson.Paak. Helpless as a title sits comfortably beside an album name that talks about burden, so the two ideas support each other in a way that feels natural.
It is a record for a quiet night when you are tired of being strong and just need to sit with your thoughts for a while.
