Anderson.Paak – Days Go By Ft. Cordae

Anybody who has watched a year disappear can relate. You make plans in January, blink, and suddenly it is October and people are already talking about December. The days do not announce themselves. They slip away between work, family, church, traffic and phone screens until you stop and ask where they went.

That is the strength of the title. It sounds gentle, but there is an edge of regret and reflection beneath it. It can speak to someone who wishes they had called their parents more often, or someone who is proud of how far they have come and amazed at how quickly it happened.

The record is on Heavy Is The Crown, with Cordae on the credit beside Anderson.Paak. Days Go By is the kind of phrase that works well for a collaboration between two artists from different corners of the genre map, because everyone, whatever their style, has felt time move too fast.

It is a record for those quiet moments when you are sitting alone, thinking about where life has taken you, and promising yourself to spend the next stretch more carefully.
