Anderson.Paak – Days Like This Ft. Cordae
Some titles work like a mood board. Days Like This from Anderson.Paak, with Cordae on the credit, is a good example.
Everybody has a day they point to as the standard. The sun is soft, the food is right, the people around you are easy company and nothing is trying to stress you. When you are in the middle of such a day, you almost want to freeze it. The title speaks to that feeling of wishing for more of the same.
It can also mean the opposite. Said with a sigh, it describes a day when everything has gone wrong and you just need it to end. Same words, different tone, and that flexibility makes the title more interesting than it first looks.
The record is on Heavy Is The Crown, with Cordae joining Anderson.Paak. Days Like This works nicely for a collaboration between a rapper and a singer because each of them can bring their own version of the day to the song, one reflective and one celebratory.
It is something to play on a Saturday afternoon, when the weather is kind and you finally have the time to enjoy the little things around you.
