Mr Thela – Reintroduction
Starting again with a bit of confidence is the idea behind Reintroduction, a solo record from Mr Thela on the INTSIKA (KING OF GQOM) album.
Anybody who has returned after a long break understands this word. It is what happens when an artist comes back after quiet months, when a friend returns from abroad changed, or when a person rebuilds their image after a rough season. You do not simply walk in as if nothing happened. You introduce yourself again, and you decide what version of you people will meet.
The title carries a quiet boldness. It suggests that the earlier introduction was not enough, or that so much has changed that the old one no longer fits. For a producer carrying the label King of Gqom on his album title, it also reads like a reminder of who holds the crown. I will not describe the beat or the arrangement, since I cannot vouch for those details and your own ears are the fair judge.
It suits any fresh chapter, from a new job to a new city, when you walk in knowing exactly who you are.
