Some song titles look like something you would type into a browser, and leans into that with .com, a track on the WayWard album.

The title is only a web suffix, and that is the joke and the hook at once. Every Nigerian knows what it stands for. It is the ending on the address of a shop, a betting site, a business page or a gossip blog, and for a whole generation it also points to hustle that lives online. Anybody who has sold something through Instagram or built a following from a phone will see the picture quickly.

What I find interesting is how bare the title is. There is no word before the dot, so the listener supplies it. It could be a name, a brand, a person or a scheme, and each reading changes the mood. That kind of blank space suits an artist whose public image is built on attitude and street humour, where a short, strange title gets people talking before anyone has heard a line.

I will not pretend to describe production details or lyrics I cannot confirm, but the title alone suggests a record about the online world, whether that means money, attention or reputation. Nigerians treat the internet as a market square, a courtroom and a stage all at once, so a title like this has plenty of everyday material to draw from.

There is also a small humour in how it will be said out loud. People will argue about whether to call it dot com or just com, and somebody will type it into a search bar for fun. By the time a friend asks if you have played .com yet, the conversation will already be about what the missing word should be.

Anyone who lives half their life on their phone will understand the idea. It suits long scrolling evenings, group chat banter and any hangout where somebody is showing off a new page.
