Mr JazziQ – Utshwala Bay’zolo Ft. Ntandokazi M, Shazz RSA, Don Deeya & Thesiix
Anyone who grew up around Zulu homes will recognise the first word immediately. Utshwala Bay’zolo comes from Mr JazziQ on Coolest in the City, and the guest list is a long one.
Utshwala is traditional beer, the kind brewed for gatherings, ceremonies and family occasions. It is more than a drink. It is the centre of a shared moment, where elders sit, stories go round and nobody is in a hurry. So any record built on that word starts in a social, communal place before a single sound arrives.
The credits read Ntandokazi M, Shazz RSA, Don Deeya and Thesiix, which is a proper gathering of voices and fits the idea well. Utshwala Bay’zolo as a title suggests company and conversation, and a long guest list supports that picture. I cannot describe who does what on the record, but a crowd of names on one track is a fair sign of a party atmosphere.
My own small observation is how local the title feels. It does not try to sound international or polished for outsiders. It speaks in the language of the people it is meant for, and that kind of confidence usually travels further than any translation. It belongs at a weekend get-together with friends, family and a full table.
