Kota Embassy – Jaiva Skelem Ft. G Master & Tshegofatso Baloyi

“Jaiva” is a township word for partying hard and enjoying yourself without thinking about Monday. “Skelem” is a rascal, a cheeky character who always seems to be in the middle of the fun. Put them together and you get a nickname that almost writes itself, a friend who never goes home early.

Every group has that person. In Lagos or Abuja we would call him a “gist master” or “baddo” depending on the street, but the idea is identical. The title paints a character instead of a scene, and that gives listeners someone to laugh about, which is a clever way to approach a party subject.

The credits are lean, with only G Master and Tshegofatso Baloyi joining the group. After the longer guest lists on other tracks, this smaller line-up makes the record feel like a close circle of friends sharing an inside joke.

Jaiva Skelem is the soundtrack for Friday evening plans, the group chat arguing about where to go, and one friend promising he will only stay for an hour.
