King Wazza – Ushukela Ft. FaroQii MuziQ, Macasset & Mgababa
Few things are as universal as sweetness, and King Wazza builds a record around it with Ushukela, featuring FaroQii MuziQ, Macasset and Mgababa on the House of Elements album.
The word means sugar in Zulu. In daily life, sugar shows up in your tea, in the pot of rice for a celebration, and in the way people describe someone charming. Calling a person sugar is affectionate, but it can also be a warning that too much of it will hurt you. There are layers here.
What I like most is how a plain kitchen word becomes a vehicle for talking about attraction and comfort. Nobody needs a dictionary to feel the mood. It suggests someone who makes a room feel better just by walking in, the sort of person friends hold on to.
The three guests make the record feel manageable and close. FaroQii MuziQ, Macasset and Mgababa appear without turning it into a festival of names, so the focus stays on one clear idea. If you have ever had a person whose presence sweetened a hard week, Ushukela is probably describing someone like that.
