King Wazza – Show Me Your Power Ft. FaroQii MuziQ, Mpho Spizzy & Boontle RSA
Anybody who has said these words to themselves in a mirror will get the idea quickly. King Wazza built a record on that attitude with Show Me Your Power, joined by FaroQii MuziQ, Mpho Spizzy and Boontle RSA.
The title is a challenge, and challenges are part of Nigerian and South African street talk alike. Somebody boasts, somebody doubts, and the doubter says prove it. It can be about money, talent, football, love or simply who can dance better at the party. That flexibility makes it a sturdy idea for a song.
I like that the call goes out to a group. With three collaborators on the record, the dare feels like it is being passed around a circle, each person expected to answer in their own way. A solo version might sound arrogant. Shared like this, it feels more like friendly competition among people who respect each other.
Everyone has a moment in life when they need someone to say it back to them. Before an exam, before an interview, before a difficult conversation with family, the phrase pushes you forward. The song sits well in that space, where confidence has to be built on the spot.
