King Wazza – Dura Ft. Kom Da Perc
Collaboration does not have to mean a crowd. King Wazza keeps things tight on Dura, a House of Elements record that has just one guest, Kom Da Perc.
After seeing track after track with five or seven names attached, a two person credit feels almost like a private meeting. That contrast is one of the more interesting things about this album, because it shows the producer moving between big group sessions and smaller, more focused ones. Variety in the cast usually keeps a long project from sounding like one afternoon.
Short titles like this invite imagination. A word of four letters can mean different things to different people depending on the language they speak, and it makes the record easy to carry around in conversation. You can say it in a taxi, in a bar or in a voice note without stumbling.
Kom Da Perc has the sort of name that suggests a rhythm lover, and a pairing with King Wazza reads as natural. When only two people share a record, you can often feel the chemistry more clearly, since there is nobody else to hide behind. That makes this one worth noticing on a busy tracklist.
