Halle – Because I Love You
Some reasons are simple, and because i love you from Halle gives one of the simplest of all.
The title sounds like an answer to a question we have all been asked. Why did you stay, why did you forgive, why did you do all that for him? Because I love you. It is a reason that needs no further defence, and it can justify both wise and foolish decisions. That is the double edge of the phrase.
Anyone who has watched a relative stay in a hard situation, or has done something unwise for love, will understand why it matters. Love explains things that logic cannot. In Nigerian homes, we hear it from mothers who sacrifice, fathers who work too hard and friends who show up when it costs them something.
The record is on love?… or something like it (Deluxe), and the placement is fitting, since an album with a question mark in its title will naturally land on the plainest answer at some point. The phrase has no hedging, no clever twist, just a direct statement of reason.
It is a good thought for the night after a decision that other people did not understand, but that you made with a clear heart.
