Halle – Angel

People use the word in many ways. A mother calls her child an angel. A lover uses it for the one who rescued them from a bad season. A grateful friend says it to someone who showed up when nobody else did. It is also used with irony, for someone who looks innocent but is anything but. That mix of sweet and sly is what makes the title worth thinking about.

In Nigeria, the idea of a guardian is deeply familiar. We talk about angels watching over us in church, in prayers and in everyday blessings, wishing people safe journeys and calling them heaven’s gift. So a title like this feels at home in our culture as much as anywhere else.

The record sits on love?… or something like it (Deluxe), and it adds another soft, tender word to a tracklist that already includes titles like heaven and potion. The shared imagery gives the project a gentle, slightly mystical thread running through its lowercase titles.

It suits the moment you want to say thank you to someone who changed your life, and plain words feel too small.
