Godswill Oyor – Isaiah Ft. Daniel Ojo

Isaiah is one of the best known voices in the Bible. His book is full of comfort, warning and promise, and many of its lines are quoted at Nigerian crusades, New Year services and funerals. He is also remembered for the moment when he heard the call and answered with a willing yes, a scene that preachers return to whenever they talk about service.

That makes the name a rich title. For one listener it points to hope, for another to purpose, and for someone else to the courage to say here I am when a task seems too big. Isaiah is also a common first name in Nigeria, so a good number of people will hear a friend or a cousin in it before they think of scripture.

I will not describe the lyrics, since I cannot confirm them, but a title built from a single name suggests a record rooted in the words of the prophet, probably drawing on promises of strength and restoration. When someone asks you whether you have heard Isaiah, you may find yourself quoting a verse from memory.

Anyone who loves scripture sung back to them will see the appeal. It suits quiet mornings and prayer times.
