Cojo Rae – Kasapa (Hating)
Talk is cheap until it hurts, and Cojo Rae addresses it with Kasapa (Hating), from the Gen Z Highlife album.
Kasa means speech in Akan, and the bracket tells you the angle, which is hate. Together they point to the kind of talk people throw at someone who is doing well, the whispers, the side comments and the jokes that carry a sting. Every community has people who cannot celebrate a neighbour without adding a complaint.
Nigerians know the word hater very well. Anyone who has started a business, bought a car or posted a good photo has met one. I will not describe the lyrics, since I cannot confirm them, but a title like this suggests a record of defiance, where the speaker shrugs off the noise and keeps moving.
That attitude is the charm. By the time a friend jokes about Kasapa (Hating) while showing you a new outfit, you will know who they are teasing.
Anyone who has been talked about for doing well will see themselves in the idea. It suits confident weekends and celebration nights.
