Babyfxce E – Bag/First Class

“Bag” is rap shorthand for money, usually a lot of it, and “first class” is the seat at the front of the plane where the service is better and the legroom is not a problem. Put them together and you get a simple story of earning and then enjoying. Back home we say “I have worked, now let me chop the benefits”, and the thinking is not far off. Nobody wants to hustle forever without once sitting in comfort.

The slash in the title is a small detail I noticed. It suggests either two parts of one song or a link between the two ideas, with the bag leading straight into the lifestyle. I cannot say which it is without hearing how the record is laid out, but the split makes the title feel like a before and after, the grind first and the reward after it.

First class also works as a symbol, which is why rappers love it. For someone who has watched others board first while they queued at the back, getting that seat is more than comfort. It is proof that the struggle paid off. That picture lands everywhere, from Detroit to a young man in Abuja saving for his first international trip.

It is a record for payday moods, big plans and anyone who wants the life they keep working toward.
