Kirk Franklin – Holy (Live)

Holy is a heavy word in worship. It describes the set apart, the pure and the beyond reach, and it appears in hymns and choruses across almost every Christian tradition. Many Nigerian congregations know the feeling of a service that goes quiet when that word is sung, as though everyone is suddenly aware of where they are standing.

That is why the live setting is a good match. A word like this one does not need clever lyrics. It needs a room full of people agreeing together, and a crowd can create something no studio can recreate. Church musicians understand that atmosphere is half of the message, and a live recording tries to capture it.

I will not describe what the crowd or the arrangement sounds like, since I cannot vouch for those details. The title carries its own seriousness anyway.

It belongs in the quiet moments of worship, when talking is no longer needed and the only fitting response is silence.
