Kirk Franklin – Do It Again
Gospel has always been about remembering, and Kirk Franklin leans on that tradition with Do It Again, part of the I Am What I Am album.
The phrase has a long life in church. It is the prayer you make when you recall what God did for you in the past and ask for the same favour today. A testimony from last year becomes confidence for this one. Many Nigerian believers will recognise the logic immediately: if the Lord opened a door once, He can open another.
There is also a human side to those words. Between friends, they mean a repeat of something good, like another dinner, another trip or another chance. People ask for it after a great night, a surprise gift or an unexpected rescue. The beauty of the title is that it holds the spiritual and everyday meanings together without forcing a choice.
No guest is credited, so the weight rests on the lead artist alone. I will not guess what the arrangement sounds like, since that is for the listener to judge for themselves.
It fits the moment when you look back at how far you have come and quietly ask for a repeat of your best days.
