Mr JazziQ – Mask On Ft. A.W.O & Freddy K

The phrase can be read in a few ways, and that is the fun part. In recent years it reminds people of health rules and covered faces in public. But the better reading is the figurative one, the mask we wear to hide how we are really feeling. We put it on at work, at family events, on social media and sometimes even with close friends.

That contrast is what makes it interesting. The words are short and simple, yet they speak about something heavy. A person can look calm and successful while carrying a lot underneath. In Nigeria, we call it pressing on, smiling through it, and the idea fits naturally. Mask On could also describe a night out, when you leave your worries at home and dress up as your best self.

The track appears on Stance Social, with A.W.O and Freddy K sharing the credit with Mr JazziQ. Having the same two names on more than one song from the album shows a steady working partnership, which usually makes a project feel more connected from track to track.

It is a thought for the moment you get home after a long day and finally take the mask off.
