Anderson.Paak – Crown Ft. Cordae

Think about what a crown means in Nigerian life. We have kings, chiefs, beauty queens and champions, and every one of them wears something that says they have been chosen or have earned a place. A crown is respect you can see. It is also heavy, and anyone who has led a family, a team or a community knows that responsibility has its own weight.

That double meaning is what makes the single word so strong. It can mean victory and pride, or it can mean pressure and expectation. In everyday life, you see both in the same person, the one who looks confident on the outside and is carrying plenty on the inside.

Cordae is on this record with Anderson.Paak, a pairing between a rapper and a singer who started as a drummer. Crown is a title that gives both of them room to speak about ambition in their own way, and that is a good setup for any collaboration.

It is a thought worth carrying into a long day, whenever you wonder if the goal is worth the stress it brings.
