Zoro Swagbag – Settings

Think about someone who used to answer every call, help every friend and make time for everybody. After a few disappointments, that same person might become more careful about who gets their attention. People sometimes call it changing their settings. You may not have changed completely, but you have learnt that not everybody deserves the same access to your time, money or personal life.

That expression is easy to understand in the Nigerian environment, where people often use simple phrases to explain serious life lessons. It can come up during conversations about friendship, relationships, money or the pressure to meet other people’s expectations. There is also a difference between protecting your peace and becoming unnecessarily difficult. Knowing where to draw that line is something many people learn through experience.

The track, Settings gives that familiar expression room for different interpretations. One person might connect it with becoming more serious about business, while another might think about cutting off friendships that have become one-sided. The meaning depends on the listener’s own experience, which makes the title easy to relate to without needing a complicated explanation. Still, the title alone does not tell the full story of the record, and its musical qualities should be judged by the actual sound.

Sometimes, changing your approach is the only way to stop repeating the same mistakes. Other times, the better choice is to remain yourself and become wiser about the people around you. That balance is worth thinking about, especially when personal growth starts to change the way you deal with others.
