ORA Ø – Respect No Be Credit
ORA Ø gets straight into Respect No Be Credit, a title that sounds like something you would hear during a serious conversation about how people treat one another.
Respect is easy to demand. Earning it is the harder part. You can tell somebody to respect you because of your age, position, money or connections, but that does not automatically make the respect genuine. In real life, people notice how you behave when there is nothing to gain from being nice. That is where the idea behind this record starts to feel personal.
The phrase itself has a blunt Nigerian feel to it. “No be credit” makes the point without trying to dress it up. Being respected is not the same thing as being given praise or recognition for free. There has to be something behind it. Character, loyalty, honesty and the way you treat people can all affect how others see you, especially when nobody is watching.
There is a common situation behind this idea. Someone can walk into a place expecting everybody to bow to their status, only to discover that people are not impressed. Another person may have very little but still command genuine respect because of how they have handled themselves over time. Respect No Be Credit fits neatly into that contrast. It is the kind of statement that can start an argument because almost everybody has encountered someone who wants respect on demand.
What gives the track its vibes is that it does not need a complicated explanation. The point is already sitting inside the title, and the everyday meaning is easy to recognise. ORA Ø leaves the conversation around respect where it belongs, with people’s actions. Titles can introduce you, money can open certain doors, and status can attract attention, but how you treat people is often what decides the kind of respect that stays.
