Adaz – My God

For many Nigerians, faith is part of everyday life, from the prayers said before leaving home to the quiet words spoken when money is tight or a family member is unwell. People turn to God for different reasons, including protection, direction, forgiveness and the strength to keep going. Sometimes, a simple expression of belief says more than a long explanation. That is what makes this title easy to connect with, especially for someone who has faced a difficult season and still chooses to hope.

There is also a personal side to calling on God. It can be an act of gratitude after a breakthrough, a request for help during uncertainty or a reminder that a person does not have to carry every burden alone. The meaning depends on the listener’s circumstances. Someone celebrating an answered prayer may hear the words differently from a person still waiting for a change in their situation, yet both can find a reason to hold on to faith.

My God places a familiar expression at the heart of its message, one that carries different meanings across homes, churches and personal experiences. In gospel music, expressions of devotion can give people room to reflect on their relationship with God. The title also feels direct and personal, as if the words could belong to an individual speaking privately during prayer or joining others in worship.

For listeners who draw strength from Christian faith, the subject speaks to the importance of remaining hopeful through changing circumstances. Gratitude, patience and trust do not always come easily, particularly when prayers seem unanswered. Still, many people find comfort in returning to the beliefs that keep them grounded. That simple connection between faith and daily life gives Adaz’s song a subject that can mean something different to each person who encounters it.
