MuelDeep SA – Something About You (Nostalgic Mix) Ft. The Godfathers Of Deep House SA & T’TimeZer011

Everybody has said it at some point. You meet someone, you cannot explain why they stay on your mind, and all you can tell your friends is that there is just something about them. It is a small, honest sentence that covers attraction, trust, comfort and plain curiosity all at once, which is probably why it makes such a good starting point for a song.

This one is the Nostalgic Mix, and the credits carry The Godfathers Of Deep House SA and T’TimeZer011. That tells you deep house is the neighbourhood we are in, a style South African producers have carried with real pride for years. Something About You fits that tradition because the title already sounds like a thought you would have while the night is still young and nobody is rushing you.

What I like about the title is how unfinished it is. It never names the quality, so each listener fills the blank with their own person. That is a clever way to make a record personal without writing a single detail about anyone. It is the sort of song you would play when the day has quietened down and one face keeps coming back to you.
