RUNDA – Many Men Ft. Hyce

The phrase can go in several directions. It can describe a woman weighing suitors, a boxer facing a crowd, or an older person warning a young one that plenty have tried and failed before. In Nigerian conversation, “many men” usually arrives with a raised eyebrow, a hint that whoever is speaking has seen more than they are saying. It is short, blunt and open to interpretation.

What I find interesting is how neutral the wording stays. Nothing in the title tells you whether it is bragging, complaining or warning. Hyce joining RUNDA on the credit gives it a shared feel, and it sits on the album Okafor’s Law. I will not guess which road the record takes, and I will leave the details of the sound to the listener. Many Men is easy to repeat, which helps any record in a crowded release week.

It suits a late evening of gist among friends, when somebody says they have a story and everybody leans in.
