Five Tribes – The Mirror Doesn’t Lie
Five Tribes turns the attention inward with The Mirror Doesn’t Lie, a title built around honesty, self-examination and the things a person cannot easily hide from themselves.
A mirror is straightforward. It reflects what is placed before it without adjusting the picture to protect anyone’s feelings. That makes the title useful beyond its literal meaning. People can explain their actions to friends, family or colleagues, but there are moments when they are left alone with their own choices. The uncomfortable part of self-reflection is that excuses may sound convincing to other people while becoming harder to believe privately.
The song belongs to the What Remains album, and the title fits naturally with a project concerned with what stays behind after experiences have shaped a person. Looking at yourself honestly can mean accepting mistakes, recognising changes in your behaviour or admitting that something you once believed about yourself is no longer true. None of that is particularly easy, especially when pride is involved.
There is also a small detail in the wording that gives it character. The title does not say that the mirror is kind. It says the mirror does not lie. That difference matters. Honesty is not always comfortable, but it can be useful because a person cannot work on a problem they refuse to acknowledge. Sometimes the hardest conversation is the one that happens without another person in the room, when there is nowhere else to place responsibility.
