Fuzeejasmine – Different Breed Ft. BhadBoi OML

The phrase is easy to understand in Naija. We say it about a person who does not follow the crowd, a friend who thinks differently, a hustler who refuses to behave like everybody else on the street. It can be a compliment, a boast or a quiet warning. Say it with a smile and it is praise. Say it with a straight face and it means do not expect me to act like the rest.

What interests me is how much confidence sits inside two simple words. Calling yourself a different breed means you have already measured yourself against the crowd and decided you do not fit. That kind of self-belief usually comes from somebody who has been underestimated at some point, maybe by family, maybe by colleagues, maybe by people who said the dream was too big. A title like this feels like a reply to those voices.

Having BhadBoi OML on the record also gives the idea another personality to play against. I will not pretend to describe production details I cannot confirm, but a collaboration on a title like this makes you curious whether the two voices are swapping boasts or backing each other up, the way friends do when they hype each other in a room.

There is a small humour in it as well. Everybody believes they are a bit different, so the phrase invites argument, and nobody enjoys hearing that someone else is more special than them. By the time a friend tells you Different Breed is their anthem for the week, you will probably already be debating whether it also describes you.

Anyone who has had to walk their own road, chase a plan others doubted or keep their circle small will see themselves here. It suits the mood of a confident weekend, when you feel good about where you are and do not mind who knows it.
