Slim Bizzle – APPREHENSIVE Ft. Tee Rowdy

It is a surprisingly formal word for a street rap record, and that is what makes it interesting. In everyday life, being nervous about what is coming next is something everybody knows. Maybe it is results day, an uncertain relationship, or a risky move that could go either way. Nigerians feel this often, especially when money, family and the future are all hanging in the balance.

The title therefore points toward a more reflective mood than most of the louder titles on the project. It suggests the rapper is willing to admit doubt, which is not always easy in a genre that rewards bravado. Admitting fear can be the bravest thing a person does.

Slim Bizzle and Tee Rowdy share the record, which means two perspectives on the same nervous feeling. On OOAK Vol. 3, a song called APPREHENSIVE gives the listener a quieter corner of the project, somewhere to think instead of just bounce along.

That is why it may stay with listeners longer than expected. Plenty of people carry worries they never say out loud, and a song that names the feeling makes it a little easier to bear.
