Young Stunna – Busisiwe (Album)

Promise

The wait for Busisiwe has been long, and now gives amapiano fans the second album they have been asking about for years.

Some background helps here. His debut, Notumato, arrived in 2021 and turned him from a street hustler turned rapper into one of the faces of amapiano. The follow-up was first announced in 2023 with the single uNonkosi, and then the waiting began. He told listeners on a podcast that he had recorded more than 50 songs, yet every attempt to lock the tracklist ended with something changing. That is a lot of music to choose from, and it explains why the project took its time.

What stands out for me is the reason he gave for the album. He described it as his way of saying thank you for the journey so far, and he mentioned that his mentor told him a second album does not need to come under pressure. A name like Busisiwe fits that idea perfectly. In Zulu, it speaks of a blessing, the kind of name a family gives a child whose arrival feels like a gift. So the title works as a thank-you note before you even meet a single song.

There is also something quietly bold about it. Plenty of artists would have rushed out a follow-up to ride the momentum of a successful debut. Sitting on a pile of finished songs and picking the final list by yourself says a lot about how much this project means to him.

Notumato leaned on a balance between hip-hop and amapiano, with Kabza De Small behind most of the production, so there is real curiosity about how the second chapter moves forward from that base.

Nigerian listeners know this feeling well. We understand gratitude to family, to mentors and to the people who prayed when nothing was working yet. It is an album for the slow weekend drive, the evening when you count your wins, and the moment you finally remember who helped you get there.
